Old flames don’t die easy
I’ve finally convinced myself to give Linux another shot.
When I first started experimenting with computers, some 10 years ago, I worked with various installations of Linux - Red Hat, Lindows, Dragon and a few others. Offering a very limited, buggy GUI back then, I kept shifting back and forth between Linux and other OSes. I probably would have been hacking around Linux myself, had I not gotten involved in advertising and design. But I guess, that provides my livelihood.
Anyway, getting back to the point - I came across this installation of Linux called Ubuntu and I’ve decided to try it out after a long 8 year gap! As I type this, I’m downloading the ISO from ubuntu.com. Apparently, it’s got applications embedded for office use, instant messaging, web development, graphics and many other common uses.
I’m also in the process of freeing up my business schedule a little, to spend more time messing around with the computer, rather than just using it as a work tool. Geeky? Yes, I know
.. And now I’ve got a big reason too - Linux is coming back into my life..

try vector linux SOHO edition. i downloaded 5.8 rc2 but you could try 5.1 which is the last stable version…old distros just make simple things difficult
and not marked as stable doesn’t mean the hard disk keeps slippin outta the machine…but just a fair warning.
i favor vector linux coz bein based on slackware, it’s one of the few distros which let you mess with the distro, as in try all sorts of low-level tinkering as well as it allows entire configuration via GUI scripts. lots of hardware detection scripts. it comes preconfigured with lots of support for proprietory formats and graphics drivers.
depending on your windows dependency you could do with or without cedega and crossover.
